Thoughts
Very much a "teen" novel, since the protagonist is fifteen and starting (American) High School. However, we get hints along the way, dropped very gently, that things are a little bit odd about Our Heroine. I liked that.
I think I'd call this Science-Fantasy rather than Fantasy, because parts of it take a scientific approach, at least, one of the characters does. The world-building is interesting on one hand and handwavy on the other. I felt it lacked a sense of wonder.
Another thing I found frustrating about it was that Our Heroine kept on being wishy-washy about her two potential love-interests.
