How to Knit Rain Textured Stitch // Knitting in the Round and Flat Instructions I always loved two techniques in knitting - slipped stitches and the traveling cable. I decided it would be interesting to combine those two techniques in one and the is how the Rain sweater idea came to life. I called it Rain because of the visual effect created by the slip stitch columns "dropping" down the sweater fabric.

Worked on any number of stitches. Use 1 or 2 sizes larger needles than what the yarn calls for. This is a thick woven stitch. For the nicest looking bind-off, BO on Row 1, in pattern. It's a little tricky to pull one stitch over the other after working into the second stitch on the left needle, but it's possible! Otherwise, you can work the BO in a P1, K2 rib.

Repeat these rows to desired length, then bind-off while working a right-side row, pulling one stitch over the other every time you have two stitches on the right needle.

This is a lace made with 3 stitches. We use bigger needles than called for by the yarn. This is to make the stitch a bit more open.

Instructions: Three Stitch Lace Multiple of 3 plus 2 Repeat from + to + When you purl, do so loosely.
