This is a video tutorial that explains how to make a pinwheel square using the Tunisian crochet. The tutorial will walk you through making 4 different patterns as shown in the picture.

Looks like a nice thick coaster; possibly useful larger as a potholder.

While this is a pattern for a potholder, it could be used as a motif used for something else; the two-colour spiral is attractive in its own right.

This makes a quick double-thick potholder. The technique involves doing single-crochet into the back loop AND the back loop of the row below. This makes the cloth double-thick because the single crochet rows overlap each other. While this is officially a pattern for a potholder, it would work for a facecloth as well, being thick and soft.

This looks very cool, though I'm not sure how practical it is.
