Really nifty Vim tip: saving swapfiles (and backup files) somewhere other than the current directory.
This is useful for a few reasons:
1. editing a file in a Dropbox directory no longer means that it is constantly syncing the swapfile
2. swapfiles aren't cluttering up directories in random spots; it's easier to find them in cases when you had a crash when editing a file.
