Stifled Regret
What do I hear?
Shall also my honour
Fuel the fires of revenge?
Loyalty to you who saved my life
Or vengeance
On he who broke it?
But you are dead
And he is still alive.
Executions I do well;
Resurrections, not at all.
Her lie shall curse your family to slavery,
Expedient for secrecy;
And oh, how we worship
Expediency.
Any means to reach the end,
The course of our desires.
Even gratitude must go.
Blake haunts me more
Than your beleaguered ghost.
His death outweighs old debts,
I say.
And wonder if I lie.
