"Beware the Lion's Roar" (Sentinel/Highlander)

I pounced on this story because I have good expectations of this
author's crossovers, and what's more, I like stories where Alex isn't
treated as a psycho-evil-bitch-monster. I was glued to the page because I
wanted to find out whether Methos would succeed in reforming Alex or not.
On the downside, oddly enough, I didn't feel any tension in the presence of
Jim and Blair in the story -- they just spent the time running around not
finding anything out -- maybe the story would have been more focused if it
had been limited to the scenes from Methos's and Alex's point of view. I
felt as if I was being told everything twice, what with multiple dreams
about the Lion (though it was a cool dream, a little variation would have
been nice). Perhaps part of the problem for me was that I just don't see
Methos as a lion. Lions aren't cunning enough. Methos is a warrior, yes
(and I loved how he surprised Alex) but he succeeds through cunning more
than strength (like how he misled Jim with the truth). I also liked
Millie, but again, I feel she was overused. I liked the way Alex see-sawed
from one thing to another, so you weren't sure what the final outcome would
be (except that you were, because of all the foreshadowing).

Once again, this author demonstrates that she knows how to
write crossovers. Both shows were balanced, well-represented and in
character. It was cool how Warren kept on turning up, and how Jim
didn't want to have anything to do with them. I liked how the
kidnapping was for an unexpected reason. And I liked the talk that Jim
and Steven had at the end.

Jim Ellison and Blair Sandburg have to guard Claudia Jardine
from an assassin - and she doesn't want to be guarded.
This one is worth reading again. It actually manages to have a
Highlander crossover without (a) someone new becoming immortal or (b)
everyone explaining their secrets to the other parties.
Not that I really mind those things happening, it's just refreshing
when they don't.
Addendum: This story is also available at the Seventh Dimension archive
(http://www.seventh-dimension.com/), which is where I first found it.

I liked the guest-character Nyajiru in this! Not to mention
the Dreams! Visions! Angst! It was an interesting take on the
Sentinel-Shaman thing that the spirits come to Jim because he wouldn't
listen otherwise; that's an interpretation I haven't seen, that
doesn't make Blair out to be lacking or slacking. Jim is a bit too
suspicious of Nya, IMHO; I wondered what bee had got in Jim's bonnet;
but maybe that's because I, the reader, already knew that Nya was a
good guy.

A good Watcher-centric tale, catching glimpses of "The Messenger" and the Horsemen episodes from the Watcher point of view. Ah, the assumptions that people make...
