This is really good. Maybe I like it better because this time
the situation of hurt and comfort isn't artificially induced, but
comes straight out of the series. I liked Blair's astonishment at
Jim's actually saying what he feels - that's more like it!
If you read nothing else by Tate, read this.
Addendum: this story won the 2000 Cascade Times Awards
in the "Sentinel Too story" category, and the "best epilogue"
category.
It was also nominated in the Alternative Universe Story category.

The sequel to Watermark, and just as good. It
leaves me begging for a sequel! One interesting thing I liked was
that it raised the possibility of Jim changing his
life, rather than the usual thing of Blair having to make his life
around Jim. The other thing that's good about this series is that it
also takes into account that you don't just bounce back from the
"critical" list as if nothing happened. And I'm not just talking
about nightmares.
