Summary:Jim had seen too much of the life he'd never lead. He hadn't had a chance to think about it until now.

I like how it hits Kirk all at once, when he stops running on adrenaline. And I love how Spock and Bones come looking for him, and how Bones deals with Kirk. It's all very in character.
