Summary: It was a good enough life, until this strange girl turned up.

I hadn't expected to like this because the prompt didn't appeal, but this is so well written (the science, the point-of-view, the mystery) that it drew me in. I like how the author resists the urge to explain, while still giving enough hints for us not to be totally confused. And then, at the end, a happy ending.

Summary: Two wanderers ask for hospitality. But gifts from the gods are sometimes strange.

This story isn't so much about Snape and Hermione as the villagers' reactions to them. It's a folk-tale, with bright and clear portraits of the folk. Truly magical, in more than one sense.
