How to join 2 pieces of knitting with mattress stitch. In this video, the seaming is done on flat panels in stockinette stitch.

Demonstrates standard Cast-on, Knitting a panel, Casting off with contrasting waste yarn and /or changing colors. What I was interested in was the knitting-a-flat-panel part; this video explains things in a bit more detail how to start it and how to do it, which I found helpful.

This is a way to knit Fingerless Gloves on a circular knitting machine. These fingerless gloves feature a long tail cast on with a ribbed cuff, and the thumb is knit after the rest of the mitten is finished. (Or one can skip the ribbed cuff if it is too difficult.) First section: 15 rows circular. Second section: put three stitches on stitch-savers, then knit 5 rows flat-panel. Third section: cast those three stitches back on with a scrap of yarn (1 row), then knit another 11 rows circular. Then bind off. Thumb: this is actually done on the knitting machine as well, picking up stitches and doing it as a flat panel. Then the seams are sewed up.

How to do a Long Tail Cast On on a round knitting machine. (This is done on the Addi knitting machine, but it works for other round knitting machines as well.) The Long Tail Cast On is perfect for many projects, as it creates a clean, yet stretchy finished edge.

The Tunisian Ocean stitch creates a great textured pattern. In this Tunisian stitch, the alternating shells look almost like an alligator texture, or like the waves on the ocean. Note that not only the forward pass changes with different rows of the pattern, but the return pass does too. It's a lovely-looking stitch, shown to best effect with a plain-coloured yarn.

I like this slipper-boot design because it is in super-chunky yarn and works up fast. It also looks pretty neat.

The first attraction of these socks is that they don't have a heel. Yes, perhaps that makes them less durable as socks, but it makes them easier to crochet. The second attraction is the lovely texture that this design creates.

Interesting technique: knitting socks with crochet hooks instead of double-pointed-needles. I think it requires four or five identical crochet hooks; one is the working hook, and the others are holding the stitches. Note that these are normal crochet hooks, not Tunisian. I'm not sure if it would work with Tunisian crochet hooks, because the stoppers at the end might get in the way.

Tutorial on how to crochet a towel topper; the pattern is by the videographer. Things I like about this design: it doesn't require a sewing machine because the base of the design is chain-stitches across the middle of the (tea) towel, you don't have to guess at the length of the chain-stitches, the gathering is done by decreases in the crochet, and the stitch-pattern in the main body of the towel-topper is quite pretty.

Knit bag pattern by Laurie Lee This is knit from the top down, in the round, with wavy lines of beads. Pattern requires 612 size 6 beads.

Pattern by bobwilson123 This looks like a nice roomy chunky bag. There is a written pattern, and there are three videos.

A purse-sized duffel-bag pattern by Dedri Ulys. According to remarks on her blog, it gets unwieldy if it is made too large. Still, it looks more interesting than the standard rectangle or cylinder pattern of most crocheted bags.

This video shows how to make a kumihimo braid with a wire core, not just for making cuff bracelets, but for pendants (and earrings etc). Rather than tying a knot in the cords and trying to attach the wire, this method wraps the wire around the cords, leaving one end of the wire free for making a wire loop (or wire decoration) and the rest of the wire is the core around which the braid is braided. Then, when there's still wire left, the braid is finished with a couple of half-hitches around the wire, and then the remaining wire can be played with for more decoration at the other end. And the braided part can be bent in whichever way you want, with the wire core making it stiff.

How to Crochet the Double Foundation Chain; this is not a double-crochet foundation stitch, this is a double-chain foundation stitch.

Crochet "bean" stitch; has English subtitles. Because of the way the stitch is formed, one gets something that looks like a diagonal weave pattern.

Pattern: Step 1: With color A chain a multiple of 5 + 2-- for this project the creator chose 25+ 2, so she made a chain of 27 Step 2: sc into the second chain from the hook, ch 5, sc into the 5th chain from the hook Repeat directions in * until you have completed the row-- this will create loops-- the demo pattern made 5 loops because the multiple of 5 was 25 Step 3: With color B, attach at the first sc made with color A. Ch 4. 2 dc into 3rd chain of top portion of the first loop. Ch 1. 2 dc into the same chain-- This creates a "shell". Repeat directions in between until you have completed the row. 1 triple crochet into color A. Step 4: Flip over work. Fold up color A loops to match with color B shells. Using color A, ch 4. 2 dc into the hole made by both the color A loop and the color B shell. Ch 1. 2 dc into same hole. Repeat directions between until you have completed the row. 1 triple crochet into both color A and color B. Step 5: Using color B, ch 5. 1 sc into gap between color A and color B-- this creates one loop. Repeat directions between until you have completed the row. Step 6: Flip work over. Using color B, ch 4. Fold up color B loops to match with color A shells. 2 dc into hole made by color B loops and color A shells. Ch 1. 2 dc into same hole-- this creates one shell. Repeat directions between * until you have completed the row. 1 triple crochet into both color A and color B. Step 7: Using color A crochet loops all the way across, then crochet shells all the way across. Step 8: Using color B, crochet loops all the way across, then crochet shells all the way across. Step 9: Repeat steps 7 and 8 until you have completed your project. Finish off and weave in ends.

Tips on how to do a standard 8-warp kumihimo braid with chains. The starting and ending are unique to chain; one can't very well tie a knot in the chain. This also shows how to extend the braid into a necklace by adding lengths of chain to each end before adding the clasp.
